Friday prayers at mosques Lebanon

BeritaislamFriday prayer will be held again at mosques in Lebanon on Friday (8/5).

The Lebanese Interior Ministry will allow mosques and churches to hold Friday prayers and worship services on Sunday that were previously stopped as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the corona virus outbreak. In a statement, the ministry called on the Lebanese people to continue to obey health rules in places of worship to help fight the pandemic.

According to a statement by Dar al-Fatwa of Lebanon, the highest Sunni Muslim authority in the country, Friday prayers will be held at mosques on Friday (8/5). However, Muslims have not been able to pray five times a day at the mosque.

"Tarawih, a special evening prayer that is carried out during the holy month of Ramadan, will also remain suspended," the statement said in Yenisafak.com, Wednesday (6/5).

Lebanon stopped all congregational prayers and other religious gatherings at the mosque on March 15 because of a virus outbreak. On Tuesday (4/5), the Lebanese government decided to extend the Covid-19 restrictions to May 24.

The corona virus was first detected in Lebanon on February 21 and then spread throughout the country. Lebanese health authorities have so far confirmed 750 cases and 25 deaths from the disease. Since it first appeared in Wuhan, China last December, the new corona has spread to at least 187 countries and regions, with the US and Europe being the regions worst affected.

More than 3.68 million cases have been reported worldwide, with deaths exceeding 258 thousand and more than 1.2 million recovered, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University, USA.
